Batman is a mythical juggernaut of a character, from the dark recesses of the collective unconscious, he is a literal shadow come to life, a force of darkness turned on its head and used for good.
To millions of fans around the world, of all ages, Batman is a living inspiration of humanities greater potentials, and he’s also damned entertaining even in his worst stories.
A living character? He may be fiction, but he exists in the hearts and minds of all Bat Fans across the globe, who are united in their love for this inspirational figure, this Dark Knight who puts the fear into criminals and punches crime in the face.
Batman stands as a testament to what one individual can do, what one person can accomplish when they set themselves to a task with single-minded obsession allowing nothing to distract them from their goal.
For a 75 year old character, he’s still looking pretty fit, and like a fine wine, he only gets better with age. Like Sherlock Holmes or Zorro, I know people will still be thrilled to read his adventures 100 years from today, such is the power and magic and idealism of this character.
The Batman matters to me, he inspires me every day to be the best version of myself I can imagine. For that I am eternally grateful to everyone who has ever worked on the Batman in any medium, god bless you all.
